Prior to a career in consulting, Steve Swick was the Chief Security Officer at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led the cyber and physical security teams for 20+ years. AEP is one of the largest energy companies in North America and is a critical part of the bulk electric system. At AEP, he was also the Chief Privacy Officer and NERC CIP Sr Mgr. Today, with CyberWise Consulting, Steve provides strategic security consulting and virtual CSO / CISO services. This includes C-suite and board-level advisory, practical operational, risk and compliance advice to guide hands-on teams.

Steve Swick joined the IANS Faculty in 2024. He provides clients with deep domain-level expertise in the following areas: board communications, enterprise and third-party risk, IT, IoT and OT security, incident response and privacy.
